Museum & Heritage Commissions
Bringing History to Life, One Stitch at a Time
History has always fascinated me.
For many years I have been creating historical costumes and accessories inspired by original garments, paintings, museum collections and historical research. Every commission begins with curiosity, careful study and a love for traditional craftsmanship.
Whether I am making a medieval hood, an Elizabethan ruff, a Victorian dress or a theatrical costume inspired by history, my goal is always the same: to create something that feels authentic, beautiful and made with respect for the past.
Today, Historique Couture welcomes commissions for museums, heritage organisations, historical houses, exhibitions and educational projects throughout Europe.

What I Can Create
Every project is unique. Depending on your wishes, I can create:
- Historically inspired costumes
- Costume reproductions
- Historical accessories
- Elizabethan and Renaissance ruffs
- Victorian and Edwardian clothing
- Medieval garments
- Cloaks and capes
- Bonnets and hats
- Textile reproductions
- Decorative historical objects
- Costume pieces for exhibitions
- Educational demonstration garments
- Bespoke commissions for special exhibitions
If your project requires something unusual, I always enjoy discussing new ideas.

A Personal Atelier
Historique Couture is not a large costume workshop.
Every commission is designed and handmade by me in my own atelier in the Netherlands. I enjoy working closely with every client, discussing ideas, fabrics, colours and historical references.
Because every piece is made by hand, no two commissions are exactly alike.
I believe this personal approach creates garments with character and lasting quality.
You are talking directly to me, Marga, the maker!

Historical Research
Every historical costume tells a story.
Before I begin sewing, I enjoy researching the period, studying original garments, paintings, portraits and historical illustrations whenever possible.
Sometimes a commission asks for an accurate historical reconstruction. Other projects allow more artistic freedom while still respecting the style and spirit of the original period.
I enjoy both approaches, and every project teaches me something new.

Natural Fabrics
Whenever possible, I prefer working with beautiful natural materials such as:
- Linen
- Cotton
- Silk
- Wool
- Brocade
- Jacquard
- Velvet
The right fabric often makes all the difference. It gives a costume depth, movement and authenticity that modern synthetic materials simply cannot replace.
