Disclaimer:
At Historique Couture, Marga van der Vet takes great pride in offering authentic, high-quality textile and costumes pieces. The following points outline our standards and practices, so you may purchase with confidence and clarity.
All items are entirely handmade, with careful attention to detail and craftsmanship. Each piece is unique and one of a kind, unless explicitly stated otherwise. Slight variations in colour, texture, or finish are a natural and valued characteristic of handmade work, and contribute to the individuality of each item.
Historique Couture is committed to using natural and sustainable materials wherever possible. In cases where recycled or upcycled textiles are incorporated, only clean, high-quality, and well-preserved fabrics are selected. We do not use worn, damaged, or unsuitable materials.
All products are created and stored in a smoke-free environment.
For presentation purposes, backgrounds in product images may be digitally enhanced or adjusted using design tools such as Canva or AI-based editing. These adjustments are intended solely to present the items in a refined and consistent manner. The products themselves remain faithfully represented.
Finally, all items offered are genuine, original creations. We do not sell replicas, imitations, or mass-produced goods. Each piece reflects an honest dedication to craftsmanship, quality, and timeless design.
If you have any questions regarding materials, process, or specific items, you are warmly invited to get in touch.

What Makes Historique Couture Special?
Historique Couture stands for authentic craftsmanship, historical inspiration and independent European artistry. Every item is handmade by me, Marga van der Vet, with care, dedication and respect for traditional sewing and tailoring techniques. You are not purchasing mass-produced fashion, but a unique creation with its own character and story.
Where Are the Products Made?
All garments and accessories are handmade exclusively in Europe, in my own atelier in the Netherlands. I deliberately work on a small scale, with attention to quality, sustainability and fair craftsmanship.
Who Makes the Products?
Every piece on Historique Couture is personally designed and handmade by me, Marga van der Vet. There are no anonymous factories, intermediaries or industrial production chains involved.
Are All Items New?
Most creations are newly handmade. Occasionally, carefully selected vintage materials or antique-inspired elements are incorporated into a design when this enhances the historical atmosphere or craftsmanship of the piece.
Are the Products Unique?
Yes. Nearly every item is one of a kind or made in very limited quantities. Many creations are impossible to reproduce exactly due to the nature of handmade work and the availability of fabrics and trims.
Is Custom Work Possible?
Yes, in many cases custom work and made-to-measure commissions are possible. This always takes place in personal consultation and depends on the design, materials and available time.
How Are Prices Determined?
Historique Couture is an independent, small-scale artisan atelier and hobby-based webshop. VAT is not applicable, and there are no large company structures, investors or expensive commercial overhead costs involved. This allows handmade couture and historical clothing to remain accessible at fair and realistic prices.
What About Shipping Costs?
Shipping costs are calculated honestly and transparently, without hidden margins or inflated handling fees. Careful packaging and secure delivery are important parts of the service.
Are Sustainable Materials Used?
Whenever possible, I work with natural, durable and environmentally conscious materials. Sustainability, respect for craftsmanship and appreciation for slow fashion are important values within Historique Couture.
Why Are the Prices Relatively Low for Handmade Work?
Because Historique Couture is built around craftsmanship rather than commercial mass production. There are no shareholders, management layers or large selling platforms increasing the prices. The focus remains on the work itself and on offering authentic handmade creations at fair prices.
Is This Mass Production?
Absolutely not. Every garment and accessory is individually handmade with attention to detail and historical character. No industrial manufacturing or large-scale factory production is involved.
What About Ethics and Working Conditions?
All work is created independently, under fair and respectful conditions, within my own atelier. Transparency, honesty and personal craftsmanship are central to the philosophy of Historique Couture.
Who Are These Creations For?
Historique Couture is intended for people who value authenticity, individuality and historical beauty. My creations are worn for reenactment, Renaissance fairs, theater productions, LARP, festivals, weddings, costume events and by collectors and lovers of historical and couture fashion.
