Historical Costumes: Timeless Treasures!
Historical costume making is much more than sewing to me—it is a way of bringing history back to life. Every garment I create tells a story, combining craftsmanship, historical research and creativity into wearable art. Whether I am inspired by the Middle Ages, the elegance of the Renaissance or the refined silhouettes of the Victorian era, I am fascinated by the unique techniques, fabrics and details that define each period.
I approach every project with patience, care and deep respect for traditional sewing methods. I believe that authentic craftsmanship allows the beauty and spirit of past centuries to be experienced again. For me, creating historical clothing is not only about recreating garments as they once were, but also about preserving the artistry, skills and heritage behind them for today’s world.
Timeless Historical Craftsmanship
All historical costumes created by Historique Couture are 100% unique handmade masterpieces. With extensive knowledge of historical fashion and costume construction, each garment is handcrafted by Marga van der Vet and enriched with detailed embroidery and authentic finishing techniques. Only high-quality and sustainable fabrics are used — never cheap materials or low-grade polyester — giving every creation the correct historical look (because polyester didn't exist till the mid 1940s).
For the Lover of True Craftsmanship
With Historique Couture, I create for people who appreciate genuine craftsmanship, historical authenticity and timeless quality. Every garment that leaves my atelier is entirely handmade with patience, attention to detail and traditional sewing techniques. I never follow fast fashion or mass production. Instead, I prefer to spend my time creating pieces that are made to last and can be treasured for many years.
To me, every costume is much more than a piece of clothing. It is a combination of history, artistry and craftsmanship, carefully made for someone who values authenticity and the beauty of handmade work as much as I do.
