Antique Dutch Holy Water Jug by Wim A.M. Harzing
Rare antique Dutch holy water jug (“wijwaterkruik”) designed by renowned artist and sculptor Wim A.M. Harzing (1898–1978), signed “Wim A.M. Harzing, Rysenburg – Holland” and marked for Wed. J.R. van Rossum, Utrecht.
This striking Art Deco religious earthenware piece dates from approximately the late 1920s and was produced for the Utrecht art dealer Van Rossum. The conical form, subtle glazing, and symbolic relief decoration give the object a timeless ecclesiastical appearance typical of Dutch Catholic design from the interwar period.
The front features an embossed Christian symbol in warm copper-brown tones against a muted grey-green glaze. The handcrafted finish and elegant silhouette make this piece highly decorative for collectors of religious art, Dutch ceramics, Art Deco pottery, or monastery antiques.
